Are human creators still needed?
- Young creators join us to help create the future of media and strengthen their craft
Lab in Copenhagen 20-24 Nov 2026
AI can replace jobs in film, journalism and media, play human roles and take over our decisions. Are we making humans obsolete? Useless?
What should young creators learn from now on? Will humans still decide which stories are told, what we believe and trust, and how people and countries see themselves and each other?
To create educational alternatives, we bring together young filmmakers, journalists and media creators from Ukraine, Greenland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Latvia.
They develop new educational ideas for how AI can be introduced into media under human control, ethically and democratically.
Their ideas are concepts for an educational AI Week for film, journalism and media education. Using AI-assisted innovation, visual micro-stories, film and documentary, they develop concrete ideas for what we should do in media education.
Short film from the Nordic Baltic Film & AIdea Lab Oct. 2025 in Riga.

Ideas for human futures
In the lab, young people solve big problems creatively and develop concepts and recommendations. They put their learning to use immediately in their studies, media work and decisions.
Learning in motion
With the help of our partners, we bring these ideas to decision-makers and into classrooms, newsrooms and public life.
Creating together across cultures
Young people from the Nordic–Baltic region create side by side. They learn by listening and disagreeing, build trust and strengthen the foundation for cooperation and competitiveness.
Tell stories like a filmmaker. Ask questions like a journalist. Innovate in teams like a design thinker.
Imagine yourself playing the lead role. Not in a film. But in inspiring your generation to put humans - not AI - at the heart of our future.
Experts introduce you to the meaning of AI, AI media production, futures design, creative problem solving and the forces that drive development.
Get feedback, test your ideas and discuss them with peers and experts alike.
How do we stay human in the age of AI? Let's find the answers and make the world better along the way.
